Expertise

An important aspect of communicating the information of the field of neuroscience is that the information is reported from a reliable source. The expertise of articles and their authors is critical to the reputation of the content in the scientific community. This expertise is shown in the author’s credibility. The journal articles, research papers, and Neuroscience Society meetings are all published and attended by scientists with doctoral degrees who run research labs and are professors at esteemed neuroscience programs at universities across the country. In addition to the author’s credibility, the articles themselves include a list of references used which demonstrates that the authors have previously researched background information before conducting their own studies. Similarly, if these articles contribute new, reputable ideas to the scientific community they are then used and referenced by other scientists in their preliminary research for their own projects to build on their knowledge.
