Discourse Community

Once the reliability of the articles in the field is established, the neuroscience discourse community can cooperate together to cohesively present information. Neuroscientists value information and communication in a particular way and follow trends of reporting discoveries as is typical of scientific research. When writing research papers, scientists typically include an introduction; description of methods including procedures, subjects, materials; as well as a discussion and summary of the results. This method of communication is concise and effective but also may be slightly confusing to members of other fields that are not involved in the scientific discourse community. It is important for the scientific community to be able to communicate their research in a way that is understandable for other professionals to enhance the scientific understanding of the larger population as a whole.
